General Description : A photograph showing a view of a boat load of Royal Navy sailors from HMS DEFIANCE rowing up the Hamoaze to place an explosive charge on a boom, there is an Officer standing in the stern of the boat. Labelled as ‘Going away to layout the charge’ and is in a series of images titled ‘H.M.S. “DEFIANCE” Laying out & firing a charge of Guncotton’.
