General Description : A photograph showing a view from the bridge of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island looking along the starboard bow of the ship as a group of men work to release some of the salvage pontoons (called a camel) secured to the bows. Labelled as ‘Camels rearing. Removal of these unwieldly [sic] things’ and is No. 66 in a series of images titled ‘The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Jane’s Fighting Ships.
