General Description : A photograph showing a view from the bridge of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island looking forward along the starboard bow of the ship as a group of sailors use a derrick to hoist a salvage pontoon (called a camel) into position. Labelled as ‘Placing a camel’ and is No. 65 in a series of images titled ‘The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Jane's Fighting Ships.
