General Description : A photograph showing a view from the aft superstructure of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island looking aft at the sea washing over the quarterdeck at half tide, the aft gun turret can be seen on the left with a vertical boiler standing on a platform fitted across the gun barrels. Labelled as ‘Half tide - during a high wind’ and is No. 58 in a series of images titled ‘The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Jane’s Fighting Ships.
