General Description : A photograph showing a view of a large section of armoured plating being removed from the bows of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island in order to make room for a salvage pontoon (called a camel). Labelled as Removal of an armoured plate weight 13 tons - to place a camel and is No. 44 in a series of images titled The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Janes Fighting Ships.
