General Description : A photograph showing a view of a large wave breaking over a group of Royal Navy sailors working on the forecastle of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island, the sailors are all ducking down beside some of the salvage equipment setup on the bows. Labelled as ‘A usual occurrence whilst working a sea would break in & give the men a ducking’ and is No. 42 in a series of images titled ‘The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Jane’s Fighting Ships.
