General Description : A photograph showing a view of a large wave breaking over a group of Royal Navy sailors working on the forecastle of the Duncan class pre-dreadnought battleship HMS MONTAGU (1901) aground off Lundy Island, the sailors are all ducking down beside some of the salvage equipment setup on the bows. Labelled as A usual occurrence whilst working a sea would break in & give the men a ducking and is No. 42 in a series of images titled The Loss of H.M.S. "MONTAGU". May 30th 1906'. This image was reproduced in the 1907 edition of Janes Fighting Ships.
